Say ‘Thank You’ at Work

Thank you is a great phrase.
According to Psyblog, saying thank you is more than just good manners. According to positive psychologists, saying 'thank you' is also beneficial to the self.
To take the best known examples, studies have suggested that being grateful can improve well-being and physical health, can strengthen social relationships, produce positive emotional states and help us cope with stressful times in our lives.
Here are some of the ways to say ‘thank you’ –

Use the Phone – This is more of an informal way of saying thank you.  It can be applied while saying thank you to your sub-ordinates or colleagues.

Send a Formal Thank You - This is always in a formal letter format. Be sure to always have a real signature on thank you letters and try to have the person signing the letters also write a small note. It can be as simple as “Thanks so much!” but it shows the recipient that there was effort put into the process.

Newsletter Acknowledgement - Praise contributors or volunteers by publishing their name in your newsletter or on your website.

Invite Contributors and Volunteers to Special Events - Ask volunteers or donors to come to annual meetings, press conferences, etc. Use these opportunities to showcase their participation. This in turn helps in advertising yourself as a professional as well as showcasing your organisation and its brand image.

Share the Good News - If you receive positive coverage in a newspaper or magazine, clip the story, masthead and date and make photocopies or, better yet, put the link to the story in an email. Send it to your top donors and volunteers for a quick, no-pressure way to let them know they are part of your organizational family.

Take Pictures - Everyone loves snapshots. Take pictures of special events or even the ordinary events going on at your organization and send them to volunteers and donors. Along with the photo, send a little note saying “Thanks for making this possible!” or something similar.
